Focal Point

    next image

This existing living room was big, but a perfect example of how size alone does not make a space livable. Furniture was difficult to arrange, and the north windows and dark brick wall made the room feel, in the words of the homeowners, like a cave. The room was transformed through the design of built-in cabinets for the south wall. A space is created for the piano and television, leaving the rest of the room free for seating. The beautiful cabinets, visible from the front door, provide a new focus for the room.
