Less is More

Our solution to the cramped, out-dated space that had been their kitchen was to add just an eight-foot addition off the back of the house. Doing this allowed the kitchen to push out just enough, making room for an island large enough to accommodate the whole family as well as serving as a visual focal piece for the kitchen. Most of the wall between the existing family room and dining room at the front of the house was removed to allow the whole space to work together for entertaining and general family life and to make the view you see in the photo above possible from the front door.
