Lake Jewel

    return to beginning

  Three years after the original design of this cabin, we were contacted again to design a deck out the lake-side door of the cabin. It's always a pleasure to be invited back when the time comes to add on - it's nice to know that the original design intent will be carried forward into future work!
  Once again, we were able to work carefully around the existing trees, coming up with a plan that both integrates (by wrapping completely around) and also protects one of the large trees close to the house. We greatly appreciate our structural engineer who enjoys these kinds of challenges, here helping us to structure the deck so footings for its main support are as far away from the main root system of this tree as possible.
